Elta Ada Organic

ELTA-Ada has been farming organically in Gökçeada since 2004. Gökçeada is Turkey's largest island in the Aegean Sea. The number of fields used for organic farming is considerably limited in Turkey because of the excessive use of the chemical fertilizers. However, Gökçeada is fortunately suited for organic agriculture because of its isolation from the Turkish mainland. The whole area is quiet and peaceful with no nearby commercial or industrial activities. Total 3,074 decar of our farm has been certified organic by IMO (Institute für Marktekologie), a specialist in quality assurance of eco-friendly products, organic agriculture and management system. Our organic olive oil is extracted from the finest olives of our farm, and it never blended. 16,000 of the several hundred-year-old olive trees of the "Ladolia" species are growing organically in 1,074 decar of our olive grove. This results in consistently rich and high quality oil. It is always sweet, fruity and delicious. Our organic cheese, yogurt and butter are made from the milk of our organic cattles that are not treated with boving growth hormone and antibiotics. The cattles also have been raised on a pure organic diet. Their feed is grown without the use of pesticides in 900 decar of our farm. We are Turkey's first producer of the certified organic milk products. In season, we sell fresh, farm grown fruits and vegetables. Year around we sell many other items such as honey, wine, tomato pastes and paper pastes.
